Have you ever considered how the world might be if Christians were as devoted to God, their Bible, and their prayer life as some individuals are to their favorite celebrity, TV show, or sports team? Consider this: at some point, we've all had a favorite celebrity or TV show and found ourselves fixating on the details, whether in the show or in the life of someone we don't personally know. Many of us can spout off information on one of our favorite topics much faster than we can quote scripture. But Kristen, "memorizing lines from a show is easier than memorizing scripture", and I would agree that this is true. What you put into your spirit, is what you are going to get out of your memory. My personal favorite argument to this is when people claim the bible is boring. WHAT DO YOU MEAN? There is not a TV show or book in existence today with more adventure and excitement than the bible! When someone makes this argument, I cannot help but believe that they have not actually read the word and what is in it. You want drama, it has plenty. You want love? There is no greater love than the love you read about in the bible. You want war, absolutely! The bible has something for everyone. But you have to pick it up and use it before it becomes written on your heart. Would your life look different if you could easily remember what the scriptures say when you were faced with situations in life? Whether good or bad situations, the bible has a scripture for everything. It is time we stop seeking life advice from the world because it is so readily available. The scriptures already contain the answers for everything we face, but we choose not to use them, because memorizing them might take too much time or energy.

My Dad told me a few weeks ago that he was reading about the Rule of 100, which states that if you do something for 18 minutes a day, you are able to be more proficient in that thing than 95% of the world. How would we as Christians be able to advance the Kingdom of God further if we spent 18 minutes a day in the word? I do not know the answer, but I know it makes me excited to think about!

Dear Jesus, I pray that you give us hearts that seek you face and desire to spend time in your word. I pray that you give us the stamina to spend 18 minutes a day learning what your word says and writing it on our hearts. As the Devil continues to try and use the business of this life to get us off track, I pray that we are reminded today, that just 18 minutes a day, can make a difference in our lives, and the lives of others. Lord, give us the ability to remember what your word says, so that we may use it in everyday life. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
